5th edition of Italian EuroCup organized by AVIS Ivrea

THE
EVENT
The athletes who took part to the contests were approximately
35, massive presence of Italian athletes, a good presence
of Swiss and German athletes, but no one from Czech Republic,
Finland and Holland. “Great event, I'm very happy!" says Federico
Torti, one of the organizer and IKSA member, “ About partecipation
we expected it, beginning from this winter we already knew
that not many foreign athletes would have been participating
to the Eurocup competitions; we had this first confirmation
in April in Holland and then in the following races. Considering
that next EC will be the World Championship
in Finland, the Italian appointment could have been a good
test bench, but moving becomes more difficult every year and
this sport does not have great sponsorships”.
“However,
AVIS Ivrea has obtained a large success with this Eurocup,”
- continues Elidio Viglio, organizer of the event - “the majority
of Italian athletes were here, and this is a good sign! We
know that foot bike is a minor sport, and that it’s not easy
to obtain large participations. We must remember that the
main purpose of these events is to
promote the donation of blood, making a specific promotion
in the summer when there is more need of donations. ”
THE
CONTESTS
The Sports Center of Rapy has turned out to be excellent for
the scooter contests: the circuit of 2 km has a series of
variations that have allowed to organize three contests on
three different circuits and therefore to make more various
the race scenarios.
RELAY
RACE 6 X 1,5 KM
10
male teams and 2 female teams at the start. For this
contest a fast circuit without particular difficulties
was chosen, for a total length of 9 km. The winner is
the very fast team composed by Stefano Beltrando
and Mario Gargano with the time of
15'36 ", to the average of 34 km/h;
second place with only 1 second of difference for the
team AVIS IVREA, Federico Torti,
Igor Ricci and Alfonso Caiazzo.
Third place for the team Grifoni, Luca Iorio,
Massimo Natale and Piero Panetto
with the time of 16' 49". For the women
same time for Le Lumache, Miriam Cerutti, Caludia
Cometto and Rossana Turani
and Avis Ivrea Ragazze with Elisa
Viglio and Ombretta Boggio
with the time of 22 ' 12 ".

KM IND.
The 10 km was raced on the traditional circuit, two
demanding climbs with the maximum gradient at 9.90%,
one beautiful down hill with the maximum gradient at
6.90%, many ups and downs, total difference in level:
40 meters at lap. 27 men and 3 women at the start line.
The
winner is Mario Gargano (19'03" for
10km = the 31,58 km/h) who made a great sprint in the
final part of contest on second place Igor Ricci
(19'00") and on the Swiss Dani Niederberg
third (19'28"). For the women the winner is Miriam
Cerutti with the time of 23'06 " (speed avg
26 km/h), Elisa Viglio 29'59" and Claudia
Cometto 38 ' 09 ".

THE
HEAD OF THE 10 KM

30
KM IND.
The
30 km has been raced on the same circuit of the 10 km
but in opposite direction, solution that has allowed
to obtain one different track, more easy to push, but
more difficult to drive, whole enough fast. 24 men and
2 women to the start line.
Very fast start for Igor Ricci and
Stefano Beltrando that after two km already had approximately
15 second of advantage on the pursuers.
At the half of the contest Stefano
loses the contact with Igor who is left over inexorable
towards the winning. Behind them, a group of 7 athletes,
who alternate themselves to the head of the pursuit,
fight for the third place.
At the end Igor Ricci wins with the
time of 1h:01'05" at the average speed
of 29 km/h, second place for Stefano
Beltrando with 1h:02'21, third
place for Federico Torti with 1h:04'26".
For the women victory goes to Miriam Cerutti
with 1h:10'26" at the speed of 25
km/h (13° absolute), second place to Elisa
Viglio 1h:33'13". With this
double victory Miriam
Cerutti conquers the head of the World Ranking, the special classification
of the best athletes.

Without

that AVIS IVREA organizes.

and for the wonderful dinner of Saturday evening to

the track of Rapy.

we did would have not been possible without the great
Elidio Viglio to which, for all he
does for AVIS and for the Scooter, all the “thank
you” are not enough, but for the monument it's still
to early!!
