Grindsted scooter race
Danmark - 2002
Results 50km scooter, windy weather, +11´C
Ville Vickholm FIN 1.55.08
Kim Kristiansen DEN 2.06.43
Jan Riisgaard DEN 2.06.46
The race was quite similar than last year, exept the amount of kickers.
There was over 1000 cyclists and 3 kickbikers, two from Denmark
and one from Finland as we already could notice before the race.
It was a ten years anniversary race this year and everybody who
finished got a t-shirt. Jan Riisgaard was new participant.
I had nice discussion with Jan after the race about kicking-philosophy
etc. Kim and Jan kicked quite well, I think on same level that most
of the Dutch kickers do. I had a quite nice trip. I took a train
from Copenhagen to Vejle on Friday and slept in a youth hostel there.
On Saturday morning after breakfast I kicked with my bike and bag
46km from Vejle to Grindsted. I was in Grindsted 10.30 and the race
start was 11.00. After the race there was Danish sauna in swimming-hall
“not so good because no water throwing on hot stones” and massage.
Food/ dinner was the same than last year. At about 17pm I kicked
36 km from Grindsted to Givskud youth hostel =128km on Saturday.
No visit in legoland for me because, “I´m a kicking fan! Kicking
is more fun than legoland!”
On Sunday morning I kicked from Givskud to Vejle railwaystation.
I passed on that short ( 21km ) morning trip some quite beautiful
Danish villages like Jelling. The train started at 10.48am from
Vejle. I travelled Vejle-Fredericia-Odense-Korsör-Slagelse-Ringsted
with train. From Ringsted I kicked and followed some very beautiful
roads to Roskilde where I eated some junkfood in Mc Donalds, junk
or rubbish is roska in Finnish. The most beautiful places was close
to Gyldenlöveshöj. The nature sightseeing- route was marked with
flower-signs. I follow some part of the flower signed route after
Roskilde but most of the road was city-road from Taastrup to Kaastrup.
Totally SAFARI- kicking on Sunday was 118km.
Small rain, drizzle and + 11´C, but very many good feelings and
nice views.
Somehow I´m quite tired now! Good night!
